MotoAI Hackathon 2025

Hackathons have become a cornerstone of innovation in road safety, serving as collaborative spaces where creative minds unite to tackle pressing mobility challenges. By bringing together students, developers, policymakers, and road safety professionals, these events accelerate the development of practical, data-driven solutions that can save lives on the road.

UNITAR utilizes hackathons as an integral part of its Road Safety Global Training Initiative, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and empowering participants to co-create digital tools, policy approaches, and awareness campaigns that support the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 – 2030.  Through these events, UNITAR engages the next generation of innovators to design solutions that make mobility safer, smarter, and more sustainable for all.

After 48 hours of innovation and collaboration, three standout solutions emerged:

EXINES Force (Canada)

Transformed MotoAl into a policy-grade intelligence engine with richer evidence, NLP-powered forums, time-of-day risk indexing and a live dashboard for city officials.

2 Smart Route Safety Ecosystem (Nigeria | Pakistan)

A WhatsApp-first, campus-led campaign that trains local ambassadors, maps danger zones and provides city halls with actionable data, starting in Lagos and Lahore.

Team 13 (India | Indonesia)

On-device Al detecting unsafe lean angles 1-2 seconds before a crash, guiding riders with real-time corrective prompts, no extra hardware, just the phone already in every rider’s pocket.

UNITAR congratulates all participants for bringing creativity, commitment and expertise to this important mission. Their ideas will help further scale and strengthen the MotoAl assessment, advancing motorcycle safety globally.
