Tribute to President Jiang Zemin

President Jiang was born on 17 August 1926 in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in electronic engineering. He then joined state owned factories and government agencies where his career rose through high rank.

In 1989, he was appointed as general secretary of Chinese communist party. His promotion to China’s top leadership came soon after Tiananmen Square crackdown.

President Jiang was last seen in public on 1st October 2019 when he attended 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

30 November 2022, Chinese state media said President Jiang Zemin dies of leukemia and multiple organ failure in Shanghai at age of 96.
