May 15th, 2026 – Pope Leo XIV signs his first encyclical called Magnifica Humanitas: a document focusses on ‘new challenges for defending human dignity, justice and work’. The official launch of this encyclical is set on May 25th, 2026.
This document is inspired by the encyclicals made by Late Pope Leo XIII, who use encyclicals as a way of promoting what we understand as Catholic social doctrine to face the risks and dangers of the Industrial Revolution; as published in encyclical ‘Rayum Novarum’, signed on May 15th, 1891.
