Sevilla, 3 June 2025, UN Deputy secretary general – Amina J. Mohammed officially close the FFD4 (Sevilla) conference. Overall FFD4 (Sevilla) conference resumes in 3 aspects: resolve, practicality, implementation which provides the basis for rebuilding trust and solidarity to be a foundation for setting together walking path with clarity, courage and commitment.
The outcome document contains 3 major areas of action:
- Investment-push to close the financing gap.
- Serious and long overdue attempt to confront debt crisis.
- Elevation of developing countries across international financial architecture.
- Additionally, the conference has witnessed the unveiling of more than 100 initiatives turn into action through Sevilla platform for action.
- From a global hub for debt swaps to a debt pores alliance, a new tool for multilateral development banks to manage currency risks and the introduction of world’s first solidarity levy on premium class flights and private jets which would generate new resources for sustainable development including climate action. This approach is not to detriment of the commitments of wider funding need but to see innovation to come.
- The platform has sparked new partnerships, innovative solutions that will deliver real change in people’s lives.
- Spanish government would support Secretary General consultation with member states and stakeholders to operationalize the Sevilla Forum on debt.
Spain Minister of Economy, Business and Trade – Carlos Cuerpo, thanking all supports that has succeed FFD4 conference and to the journalists who have assisted Sevilla ambition materialized as a turning point.
In brief, the time is now to act, importantly to be practical in implementing the solutions; to translate the words into specific and concrete initiatives; to increase available financing and to provide debt relief where it’s needed.
