Last May 2026, members of Albania’s oldest environmental organization called Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) noticed a construction work as converting process for tourism business model of the pristine Sazan island.
Earlier in April, Denisa Kasa, a member of the PPNEA showed the proof that trucks started entering and creating the gravel roads in part of Dalani beach went up to the top of the dunes – the preserves that take centuries to form and shape-in what it looks today.
The protest in Tirana, the capital of Albania has been rallying every day by young and old, as well right and left wings. The protest’ issues is not only about flamingos and the dunes. It is about corruption in-large. Less than 2 years prior, an offshore trust registered in the Netherlands called Veret South Adriatic Development bought the land. This company is linked to Donald Trump’s son in law Jared Kushner as well as Qatari billionaires.
