At this special occasion of Vatican publishing house – 100 years celebration of being in operation, Pope Leo XIV launch a collection of unpublished homilies by Pope Benedict XVI, originally delivered between 2005 and 2017 during liturgical seasons of advent, lent and easter — ‘The Lord Holds Us by the Hand – English edition’.
Pope Leo XIV called writing is an act of truth, a revelation. Writing is an act of humanity and celebrated literature for its ability to encompass full spectrum of human experience. Pope Leo emphasized that the role of writing plays in helping people identify the characters they are reading about, relating to their point of view, feelings and emotions. Importantly, through books and literature, we come to know the lives of others with an intimacy that isn’t otherwise possible.
Colum McCann, Irish author believes on what scientists say that the world is held together not only with atoms and molecules but also with stories; and though, we live in a highly digitalized society as currently; to him, the power of writing is still strong. This power drives him for a global charity that brings young people together to share stories. The truth is there has been an epidemic of loneliness and isolation, particularly amongst young people. They feel sort of they live only within their mobile phone reach. This is the enormous joy for the reader that it can enter somebody’s head and could breaks down to a tremendous sense of isolation.
